Silvia de Maria

Biography

Silvia de Maria graduated in viola da gamba  and musical pedagogy at the Early Music Center of the Geneva Conservatory (Switzerland) in the class of Guido Balestracci. She also attended to classes with Marianne Muller, Paolo Pandolfo and Wieland Kuijken. Previously she graduated in piano with Rocco De Vitto and viola da gamba with Bruno Re at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory, in Rome.

She performed in chamber and orchestral ensembles, both as a soloist and continuo performer, in the most prestigious concert halls in Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Romania, Estonia, Hungary, Norway, and Japan.

Passionately fond of pedagogy, since 2008 she has enthusiastically devoted herself to teaching viol. In the 2018/2019 school year, she taught viol at the Conservatorio Statale di Musica Nicola Sala, in Benevento. She currently teaches viola da gamba at the Conservatorio Statale di Musica Ottorino Respighi, in Latina.
